Salem has never been ranked, and the nearest West Coast entries on the 2026 list are Seattle (30th), San Francisco (37th) and San Diego (41st). Orkin’s list measures where Orkin performed the most treatments, so it is a volume ranking of one company’s work, not a prevalence survey — but on that measure, this region is quiet.
Why there are no Oregon numbers
ORS 192.582 makes pest operators’ reports to public health authorities confidential, including the location and “any information describing or pertaining to the infestation.” The Oregon Health Authority’s bed bug page carries no statistics, and we found none from Marion or Polk County. Any website quoting a Salem bed bug count made it up.
Why this is good news for you
Low regional pressure means a single infestation is usually a single source: a trip, a used sofa, a neighbor’s unit. Find the source, treat it properly once, and it stays gone. It also means you should be suspicious of urgency marketing. A quiet market is one where you can take a day to get an inspection and a real quote.
